2015 No Shave November

Chief Derzis is proud to announce the final numbers for No Shave November, benefiting the Wings of Hope Foundation. HPD joined with area Police Departments from Alabaster, Pelham, Montevallo, and Helena in putting down our razors for a month to help raise money for this very worthwhile cause.

Last night (November 30th) at a ceremony, a check for $44,546.24 was presented to Dr. Trotman and Tonya Willingham from the Wings of Hope Foundation. They are pictured with Helena Police Chief Pete Folmar and Pelham Police Chief Larry Palmer. Of that amount, $25,100 was from the Hoover Police Department and the Hoover community. That put Hoover in first place among the other competing Departments.

The Foundation also voted on who had the “Best Beard” among all of the Departments. Hoover Officer Issa Deades won this award, and a Yeti cooler for his efforts. Sgt. David Lipsey finished runner-up, winning a gift certificate.

Way to go HPD and the Citizens of Hoover for donating for this wonderful cause. It was fun and we’ll see you again next year for No Shave November 2016!
