Special Ops & Emergency Preparedness Bureau

Captain Chuck McDonald is the Commanding Officer of the Special Operations and Emergency Preparedness Bureau.

The mission of Special Operations and Emergency Preparedness Bureau is to provide expertise in critical incident management and to work in partnership with the various social and departmental entities to enhance overall public safety. Special Operations and Emergency Preparedness is also committed to supporting local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to ensure a cooperative, successful and unified effort to protect and serve people in all communities.

The Special Operations and Emergency Preparedness Bureau coordinates police operations for City sponsored special events. Additionally, the Bureau oversees departmental compliance with Federal regulations regarding issues of Homeland Security as well as mandatory training in National Incident Management Systems (NIMS).

The Hoover City Jail is also a part of the Special Operations and Emergency Preparedness Bureau and falls under the command of Captain McDonald. A Police Lieutenant and a Police Sergeant are responsible for the daily management of the jail facility. Supervision of inmates is the duty of twenty civilian Correctional Officers.
